What’s The Team Playing? - January Edition

New year, new beginnings. Here’s what some of us at The Stadia Life team are playing and have been playing!

I’ve been playing more Outcasters! You wouldn’t have guessed that. I’m not addicted, not at all. I’m starting to get the hang of it, and the more I play the more fun it’s becoming. Easy to play hard to master is a great thing to aim at.

Phoenix! No, Fenyx! I’ve been very and completely amused by Immortals: Fenyx Rising. Fantastic art direction (muddy brown games and neon spritzed mega towns begone), light-hearted and easy legged humor (Zeus = Douche), and honestly quite not horrible combat and game loop. If it wasn’t for the slightly wonky progression/direction, and if this was a review it'd get ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡ out of 5. It isn't though, so I'm gonna give it ⚡⚡⚡⚡ out of 5.

I'm sorry dear ginger-man-space-wizard. I've not enjoyed you much this month. I shall return, oh great Climbing Disorder.

I suppose an apology is in place for you too, cyberpunk from 2077. You've honestly upset me with your lackluster content and really stupid AI, so it’s not really an apology. I shall get back to you in due time.

Just give me more hours, no responsibilities, and more polished AAA (more like ZZZ, zing) games!

Time? Who has time nowadays to play games? No one! That’s who… Wait… This is a blog website about playing games… Oh… I mean! Yes! I have been playing many games! All the best games!

Currently, I am playing through a blind co-op run of Baldur’s Gate 3 with friends. A huge fan of the older DnD licensed games such as the original Baldur’s Gates as well as Neverwinter Nights, Planescape Torment, and the rest (really showing my age here). Having been made by Larian, creators of Divinity Original Sin, it was a must-play for us and so far really enjoying it (if you ignore the odd “alpha” bug!).

It's been another month already? Damn time goes fast when you’re having fun.

I’ve been playing a lot of Cyberpunk over the past month! When it first released I couldn’t really get into it for some reason. It just didn’t get me hooked. But after trying it again about a week after release, I was totally into the game. I decided to restart my character and play it completely differently this time. I didn’t really follow a specific approach, I just upgraded “bladed” a lot because I found the Mantis Blades pretty early on. I specifically loved the story, I enjoyed every second of that. I have also started enjoying the side content more after a while.

Besides Cyberpunk, I’ve also been playing some more Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla this month!

The new Yule Festival was pretty fun and enjoyable and since I didn’t even get the chance to finish it before Cyberpunk released I also just continued on my journey.

Ooh, and I’ve started playing some Immortals: Fenyx Rising, but because it was released 2 days before Cyberpunk I haven’t been able to get into it too much yet. I’ll definitely continue that after I’m done with Assassin’s Creed though! Talking about that, now that I’m coming to an end with playing Cyberpunk, for now. I’ll probably play a lot of Assassin’s Creed again, and not to forget Hitman 3 this month! Snap… so many games, so little time :p I guess that is just a luxury problem though.

Life catches up to you sometimes and hits you over the head with school, with work, with personal responsibilities; and makes it hard to enjoy usually enjoyable activities like games. Life caught up with me a bit in December and didn’t leave as much time for games as normal.

But that’s okay! It’s January now! New year, new you!

All my gaming time in the last month has been consumed by Immortals Fenix Rising. If anyone tells you that Immortals is just Breath of the Wild but a million times better, listen to that person. In fact, you should probably marry them because they clearly have incredible taste.

Over the Christmas break, I played the first couple hours of Cthulhu Saves Christmas, which is hilarious and I honestly wish I had more time I could have given to it, but now Christmas is over and I’m sorry but the holiday spirit has left me.

Lastly, one of the games on the Stadia Pro list for December caught a bit of my attention. Everspace is a third/first-person space combat roguelike and is super fun. It’s been out for several years on other platforms already but it’s a real treat on Stadia. There’s even an Everspace 2 currently in beta on PC which maybe we’ll see on Stadia as well? Cross your fingers!

We'll see you again in February for another What's The Team Playing
