What was the Good Stuff Event?
The Good Stuff Event was an event held by Google to promote new games coming to Stadia as well as small announcements for new release dates of previously announced games at other Stadia Connects. As well as the announcement of a new feature to the platform.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
The first game which appeared in the first 5 minute video Stadia re-revealed (is that a word?) Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order was coming to Stadia. This trailer showed off the game as well as reminding you that it is coming to Stadia, along with a release date of the game (that being November 24th 2020). Of course during the showcase for this game they shove down your throat that you won’t need to update the game or download anything to play the game when it launches.
Hello Engineer was a completely new announcement for the platform and is a timed exclusive to Stadia. This trailer showed off the player being an engineer and creating vehicles and machines scavenged from theme parks (or an amusement park) to “overcome challenges” with some “horror” elements (with the neighbour chasing you around). This game is scheduled to launch in 2021 and to reiterate is a timed Stadia exclusive.
PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle
The last game to be announced on the first day of the Stadia Good Stuff event was PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle. This game (from what I’ve played of the demo anyway, more on that later on!) appears to be a battle royale game (kind of like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) where you can invade other players’ mazes to eat the other opponent. PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle is scheduled to launch on November 17th 2020.
With the Stadia Good Stuff Event alongside the PAC-MAN reveal demos were also launched on the service (for a limited time for each demo, more on that later). Each demo which was launched on the service is only available for a limited time (1 week from each launch of the demo). The PAC-MAN demo will end on the 27th October at 9am PST.
Outcasters showed a quick demo of their game at the very beginning of the video! This showed various different maps off as well as the game having quite cartoony looking visuals and violence. Outcasters looks like a fun little party game you play when everyone is over to have a little fun, or a little fun to have with the kids.
Orcs Must Die 3!
After the (admittedly) very short demo of Outcasters Robot Entertainment came out with more news about Orcs Must Die 3! In this trailer this showed an expansion to the game. In the trailer it revealed that a character from Orcs Must Die Unchained was coming to the game in this expansion. Other information in the trailer also revealed that more scenarios were coming to the game and the expansion will be released on November 6th 2020!
Ark Survival Evolved
Ark Survival Evolved came after and immediately dropped that it was coming to Stadia Pro when it releases on Stadia in Q1 2021. This showed off creatures, weaponry, armour and various types of environments you can explore in the game or fight with or against!.
HumanKind was announced and is a 4X strategy game developed by Amplitude and published by Sega. For some people who primarily play console this might be a new concept (assuming you haven’t played Civilization, another game in the 4X genre) is about eXploring the land around you and around the world, eXpanding your country and influence across the globe, eXploit the land for its resources for your own gain (this could be due to technological advancements etc) and lastly to eXterminate everyone else (I hope this one is pretty self explanatory). This game allows you to “build the society you envision” with over 200 unique buildings and 90 technologies to research. As well as being able to “rewrite the past 10,000 years”. There is a demo for HumanKind available which will end on the 28th October 2020, so play it while you can!
Young Souls is a Co-Op Dungeon crawler developed by The Arcade Crew and is going to be released on Stadia in 2021. Young Souls is a game with a different looking art style (in my opinion looks quite pleasant to look at) that “keeps you playing via a deeply narrative-driven RPG beat-em-up.
Phoenix Point was the next game up on the last day of the Good Stuff Event, this game funnily enough like most games i’ve covered does come out in 2021. This game is a RTS with intense looking battles in a sci-fi setting and looks similar to games like XCOM mainly due to the setting. Another thing in the trailer is that it also mentions that you don’t have to download anything including updates making it so you can jump straight into it when it launches in 2021!
Baldur’s Gate 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 reminded you that it existed in the small little section of the event. Baldur’s Gate 3 was developed by Larian Studios and is an Early Access RPG game.
Immortals Fenyx Rising
Immortals Fenyx Rising (previously named Gods and Monsters) was the final game to be announced at the Stadia Good Stuff Event alongside a demo (which ends on the 29th October 2020). This game is an open world action-adventure game developed and published by Ubisoft. From playing the demo this game seems to be similar in ways to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (with some of the mechanics in the game, which I wouldn’t consider a bad thing) alongside some of the combat mechanics of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The combat in this game is cartoony and impactful allowing you to combine certain abilities and attacks together to beat enemies with ease or take down bosses more efficiently and in more flashy ways. This game releases December 3rd 2020.
