As we officially enter into the period known as ‘very close to Beyond Light’ you may be wanting to prepare for the expansion. I hope this guide can help you know what you should be doing.
With some of the destinations disappearing next week (Mars, Mercury, Titan and Io), some of the campaigns are disappearing, namely the Red War campaign, the Curse of Osiris campaign, and the Warmind campaign. There is still time to complete these, even if you haven’t already started, and I would fully recommend doing so to give you context of the stories of Destiny. You can pick these up from Amanda Holliday in the Hangar of the Tower.
As with any Destiny 2 expansion, there is likely to be a number of quests for you to complete for some tasty rewards in Beyond Light, even for players who don’t already own the expansion in events like The Dawning, coming in December. You don’t really want to still be working through a huge backlog while you’re getting cool new quests done, and you only have limited space in your inventory for quests anyway.
Some quests will also completely disappear with Beyond Light thanks to destinations disappearing. Most locations have a quest associated with them, so make sure to look out for these planetary quests and try to complete them before they’re gone. If these are exotic quests (quests with a yellow background) don’t worry too much, as Bungie will be bringing a feature called the Exotic Kiosk, which will allow you to acquire these exotics by other means.
This will be a bit more difficult to complete in a week, but if you have a group of friends or you’re fine using an LFG, raids are really cool activities to play which give some sweet loot. The raids that are disappearing are Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past and Crown of Sorrow, so pay particular attention to them.
If you’re really looking to get an edge over the competition in the upcoming expansion, this is what you’re going to want to do. Bounty Stacking simply involves grabbing all the bounties you can, completing them, leaving them in your inventory until Beyond Light then claiming them when the expansion is out. This will give you a huge boost in experience, allowing you to get higher power levels earlier and immediate progress towards your season pass. However,
there are a couple of things to look out for.
Make sure you don’t get bounties that reference one of the locations that will be disappearing next week. Again, these are Mars, Mercury, Titan and Io. These bounties will disappear with the expansion and you won’t be able to claim them. I would suggest sticking to bounties for the playlist activities Strikes, Crucible and Gambit, as well as bounties from the Moon which don’t reference the locations disappearing. Also, there is an order of priorities for which bounties you should complete. Weekly bounties offer the most experience, so you should definitely get these. Daily bounties offer middling experience, so should still be done. The repeatable bounties, these are the bounties you’ll get from the rightmost bounty of any vendor, reward the least experience, and you should only do these when you’ve exhausted your weekly and daily bounties.
Right, well I suppose I’d best be getting back on the bounty grind. Europa won’t explore itself after all. Feel free to add any of your suggestions of what players should be doing in the comments!
